Che en Face the Nation
For his admirers, who are not a few, the opportunity to see the legendary man whom most of us have only known by means of writings, photos and fragments of speeches in audio or video.

Messages and calls to the television made them have a retransmission of the program which we later dedicated to Commander Che Guevara in the Amazed Pupil in the 49th anniversary of his murder under the hands of CIA.

News media of very different ideological orientation from varied geographies, such as, Clarín, La Vanguardia, Russia Today, Telesur, El Telégrafo, Radio la Primerísima, La Información … reproduced the whole material that constituted the main attraction of the program: the interview that, during his trip to New York in 1964 to take part in the General Assembly of the UN, Che conceded to the North American chain CBS in the program Face the Nation with journalists from that company and the newspaper The New York Times.

For his admirers, who are not a few, the opportunity to see the legendary man whom most of us have only known by means of writings, photos and fragments of speeches in audio or video, smiling, ironical, victoriously, facing a press that is not flushed when call themselves North American Government is something unforgettable. But, particularly, either seeing or reading or both, the one who has only been presented as a man of action, arguing with his capacities of communicator and polemicist the foreign policy of a revolution he made his, mainly on the US relations with Cuba and Latin America, and verifying that his arguments have an enormous present time, the frame goes beyond any political militancy to be news in many zones in the world.

The interview evidences three points with overwhelming clarity.

  1. Fidel and the Cuban revolutionary direction always looked for a normalization with The United States.
  2. At the beginning, the pretexts hoisted by the government of The USA to impose a blockade and their hostility on Cuba (relations with the Soviet Union and recline to the guerrillas in Latin America) have disappeared.
  3. Concerning Cuba, the corporate North American press acts in perfect harmony with Washington’s policy, they try to confront the revolutionary Cubans among themselves and with other anti-imperialist and left-wing forces in the planet.

“His projects and his mottoes have not left more than a spill of failure and death …” This appeared in an editorial about Che in the Spanish daily newspaper El País from October 10th, 2007 among a series of slanders that did nothing but ratify how dangerous the Argentinian-Cuban revolutionary keeps on being. In as much as nine years later his ideas become news again and El País, together with the journalistic machinery that provokes in Cuba, only shut up.
